How to Fight Inflation at Home

Tips to help your family fight inflation

1. Inventory

2. Budget Spending

3. Couponing

4. Big Box Store

1. Inventory

Inventory what items your family purchase's over the week and keep a record of what was used and what is left. This helps you to track your spending and to know what items needs to be purchased this week or the next. It also tells you what items need to be purchased more or less frequently

My wife is a good cook. She uses the big and short long aluminum pans. I have an inventory on how many we have and what is left for our cooking. I buy them in bulk from a big box store that come in a set of 10. We will talk about the big box store shortly.

We use the Notes app on the Iphone to set up a simple spread sheet and I was able to create and share it with my wife so that she also has an up to date running inventory of what's on hand.

Try it first with two items such as toilet paper and kitchen towels. Theses get used alot. You will see how handy this trick is and may want to expand this.

2. Budget Spending

This helps because you have a plan for your money but it also introduces limits to your spending. Unlike the government, our resources can only go so far. Have a plan of attacking your home needs.

You have to decide this on your own but it does help to get an idea on what needs to be done and how it's going to be done.

My wife and I have a budget meeting every two weeks usually our pay week and we go over our budget for food and household items. We also use the inventory on what things that need to be purchased. We have time to talk about what needs to be done. This also talk about our time management and who needs a ride or coverage for a doctor appointment. Time is just like money, you can throw it away easily and wished you have some of it left.

3. Couponing

Yes it does work and our family have saved tons of money on food and other products using this method. Yes, it's true you can get a grocery bill for only $1.29 on $80 dollars purchase.

The first key is to Join the your local supermarket. Example (Not Sponsored just example only) Foodlion. They have rewards programs and saving programs to save you big. One store that we used gave us gas rewards that could save you up to $1.00 per gallon of gas if you are on the program. Although this is nice, Big Box Stores offer better discounts.

This is Free Money because if you have budgeted your money and did your inventory, you know what you need. Use the coupon to save on the products when advertise and you get some more savings.

One trick my wife uses is that one of the store has a circular coupon to save $10 on a purchase of $50 this means you save $10 on the purchase so that you actually paid $40 and got $50 in food. The kicker is you can uses that coupon at other stores and they will honor this (Check first before using. They may not. If not find another store that does). If you got to the cheaper store with better pricing and use the coupon with other items that are on sale. Jackpot.

Hey every little bit helps

4. Big Box Store

Economically, buying in Bulk is more cost effective than small units.

I have been a member of Sam's Club since 1993 (Not Sponsored nor Shareholder) and Costco since 1997 (Not Sponsored nor Shareholder) We were also BJ's member but we separated from them because of quality issues but that is a personal decision but we love the Big Box Store concept. If that's all you got then that's what you got.

When you use your inventory along with your budget, you can make your dollars stretch a lot. This is from memory but I am not sure but BJ's let you use coupons.

I am not going to get into all the benefits of Big Box but I will advocate for Cheaper Gas. On average and depending on the location, Saving $0.20 per gallon.

The example, my Truck has 17 gallons to fill. I am going to use a non inflation price of $ 3.00 per gallon. So one week will cost me $51 per week. One month is $204. At years end $2448. Non Big Box at years end $2,611.20 (using a price of $3.20 per gallon). In this example, there are many variables we did not discuss but this is for simplicity. So for the year just gas alone I saved over $163.20. Check my math and try it yourself. I think you would be satisfied with the results.

Another example, the aluminum pans. A set of 10 of the large pan cost me at Big Box $7.00 plus tax. My local supermarket, $7.00 plus tax for 1 large pan. Yes, $7 bucks.  I cruise out of Big Box with $70 worth of Aluminum pans for Just $7. I think you can see how this works out for your family.

Please do your inventory. Use the Big Box, Use a coupon or two. and finally, have a plan.

i hope you enjoyed this and it servers you well.
